1. Why can't I start a Course immediately?
We hope to be able to offer Courses that can be started at any time in the future. However, we are a small research clinic that develops and tests online treatment Courses and we need to carefully examine each Course and determine who does and does not benefit from each of our Courses. We want to ensure that our Courses are as helpful as possible before we make them available and we want to be able to make professionally and ethically appropriate recommendations about the suitability of our Courses when people are interested in them. Please email us with any questions.
2. I know someone who I think is suitable for the eCentreClinic Courses, what can I do?
You can tell them about eCentreClinic and our Courses. You can also invite them to visit our website and read more about the Courses themselves. And, if they are interested, encourage them to register their interest or apply for a Course.
3. Are there any costs involved?
No! All our treatment Courses are offered as a part of research projects, which aim to develop better treatments and understand these treatments. Consequently, there are no costs involved to participants. Please email us with any questions.
4. Do you offer Courses for people under the age of 18?
Unfortunately, we do not offer Courses to people under the age of 18 at this point in time. Because our Courses are targeted for adults, we do not know if they are suitable or safe for people under 18. This means we cannot accept people under 18 into our Courses. If you are under 18 we strongly encourage you to talk to your GP or local health service. Your GP and local health service will know of the most appropriate services available for you and will be able to arrange these services for you. You may also want to visit the following websites:
5. Can I apply if I do not live in Australia?
We are starting to offer some of our Courses to people living outside of Australia. But, we do not offer all of our Courses to people outside of Australia at this point in time - although we do hope to be able to in the very near future. If you live outside of Australia, please check whether the Course you are interested in is offered internationally or contact us. Otherwise, we strongly encourage you to talk to your family doctor or local health service. Your family doctor and local health service will know of the most appropriate services available for you and will be able to arrange these services for you.
6. How can I get the most out of an eCentreClinic Course?
Our results tell us that the more time you spend working through our Courses the more you are going to benefit. We expect that over the 8 to 10 weeks you should aim to spend at least 4 hours per week working through the Course and practicing the skills taught within the Course. Practice of the skills in the Course is strongly recommended because just reading about helpful techniques for managing symptoms is not helpful.
It is also important to have realistic expectations about what you will achieve from our Courses. Feedback is that our Courses do help but it takes some patience and regular practice to learn to manage symptoms. We know that it is important for people to keep revising the Course material sand practicing the skills after the Course has finished. Each Course involves perseverance, determination and courage to start making changes. But, we are committed to building Courses to help people achieve their goals. Please email us with any questions.
7. How do I access the eCentreClinic Courses?
All Courses are accessed via the Internet. This means that once you are accepted into a Course, you can login to the Course anytime, anywhere in Australia. Please email us with any questions.
8. What does the application process involve?
Once applications open, we will email people on our mailing lists to invite them to apply for the Courses at our website. Each Course has a slightly different procedure, but generally we will ask you to fill in an online informed consent form and some online questionnaires about your symptoms and, if you meet our study criteria, we will contact you to let you know the details of your participation. The questionnaires usually take 15 minutes to complete. If you have any questions please feel free to email us.
9. Can I apply for more than one Course?
You can only apply to participate in one Course at a time. Please also feel free to email us if you would like to discuss which Course is most suitable
10. Can I register my interest for more than one course?
Yes. We will place you on the mailing list for those Courses and email you regarding the Courses you have resisted for as we open applications. However, you can only participate in one Course at a time. You are welcome to apply to participate in another eCentreClinic Course after you have completed any Courses you have started.
11. The eCentreClinic Courses are not suitable for me, how can I get help?
Talk to your family doctor or another health professional about your symptoms. They can conduct an assessment for you and recommend appropriate treatment options.
12. How can I join an eCentreClinic course?
First read all the information on this website. Then, you can apply for a Course that is accepting applications by following the links on our website. If a Course is not accepting applications you can register your interest for the Course. Please email us with any questions.
